JAY Z / PHARRELL CLOTHING LINE!

NME announces that Jay-Z has revealed that he is set to work with Pharrell Williams on the N.E.R.D man’s clothes label.

Making the announcement via his Twitter account, hip hop megastar Jay-Z said that he will be going into partnership with Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club range of clothing, though no further information has been revealed at this stage.

He took to Twitter to share the news and also to set facts straight, as it had previously been reported that he was buying out the fashion line, which is not the case. Jay-Z wrote:

“Partnering with @4real4rell on BBC” follow him.. (Not “buying” as GQ erroneously reported.)

4real4rell is Williams’ Twitter username. How they joked!

SOLO DOLO TEE – INSPIRED BY KID CUDI

One of Kid Cudi’s undeniable influences on music came from his disregard of the hip hop status quo. While many artists took steps to blend genres together, Kid Cudi took his own path, almost oblivious to existing expectations in the industry. He wasn’t a singer but that didn’t stop him from singing and when people criticized him for his personal and introspective lyrics, he ignored the negativity and used it as fuel to believe in himself. Simply not a hip hop artist dipping into new territory, Cudi’s sound came together with a plethora of influences and samples including Paul Simon, LCD Soundsystem and production from Ratatat.

He has also been inspiring in his personal journey; an exemplification of The American Dream for a new generation. Kid Cudi made his way from Cleveland to New York City with no guarantees and worked his way from retail jobs in Soho to the collective consciousness of music-lovers around the world.

This design, for the entitled ‘The Teachers collection’ is inspired by Cudi’s alter ego Mr. Solo Dolo and the inventive and sometimes brooding lyrics that are associated with him. Within the picture the letters that make up the words “Solo Dolo” to create the imagined face of the roguish character. The design say Handsome, ‘is an ode to all people closing the gap between their humble beginnings of isolated efforts and their dreams’.

Other artists to feature in The Teachers Collection include ‘The Beach boys’ (Profile picture) ‘Daft Punk’ with the 909 sweatshirt and the Bowie inspired ‘Heroes’ tee – some seriously great looking tees and other street wear is available from their excellent online store Handsome clothing

EFFORTLESSLY COOL – ORIGINALS BY BECKHAM

As you expect from an English icon there is a little bit of the British influence, Beckham as we all (should) know is more of a football god rather than just a player. Look beyond this and you will find hints of American casual wear, particularly those with collegiate/varsity sports flairs.

The collection also features technical specifications such as Scholler (Innovative and highly functional fabric for humans and the environment), 3XDRY fabric (basically a fabric that keeps your garment 3 x as dry) on the DB Pullover Jacket and heavy duty cotton rip-stop pattern found on the DB Field Jacket are all essential needs of today’s active lifestyle. You can buy this collection and other great items from addidas originals

FEELING THRIFTY

I do love a bit of a hunt when it comes to shopping; I like to feel I’ve earned my purchases. Also regresses me to childhood when I would raid the dressing-up box not unlike raiding a vintage shop now, and what is a charity shop if not a pre-sieved vintage boutique? Be brave, skip the middle man and find your own vintage treasures through the musky smelling and moth bitten grandma cardigans (very A/W’10). Slight hyperbole and maybe I’m feeding the stereotype there just a touch. Fear not all the clothes are washed and in pretty good condition, some are even new; I know I have previously handed over some unworn items complete with tags to the charity bag. But you do need patience, persistence and a keen eye -you might not find anything on your first trip but don’t let that sway you. Current trends are often taken from old shapes and styles just look at the heavy revival of the 70s trend these past seasons! Anyway today this is what I found and I love it. The pairing of the buttons, little cuffs and lace trim collar. And anyway who could deny a £2 price tag?
